Christmas re-enactment at Fort Massac
METROPOLIS, Ill. -- An Olde Tyme Christmas and Living History program will be presented Saturday and Sunday at Fort Massac State Park, 1308 E. 5th St. The park will provide holiday decorations, period music and re-enactments of 18th century life. Christmas Hoot for charity on Dec. 20
The annual Christmas Hoot benefiting a local charity will be held at downtown Cape Girardeau nightclubs the night of Dec. 20.
Bands will include Moodminder, Otto Modest, Catatonic, Squadcar, Wandering Eye, Savant, Elixir, Bob Camp with Intergalactic Taxi, Shady Deal, Nick Watts, Drivin Rain, Wooden Ships and others. Clubs include Broussard's, Rude Dog, The Camp, Pour House and Players in Cape Girardeau and Cronies in Sikeston.
Christmas at Cedarhurst showcases arts
MOUNT VERNON, Ill. -- Visitors to the Cedarhurst Center for the Arts through Dec. 31 can make gifts, gift wrap and magical reindeer food at "elf" work stations and view entries in a gingerbread house contest. MAQS obtains Lewis & Clark Quilt
PADUCAH, Ky. -- The Museum of the American Quilter's Society has added to its permanent collection "The Map Makers," a pictorial quilt depicting the participants in the Lewis & Clark expedition. The quilt by Grants Pass, Ore., artist Cassandra William's won the award for Best Lewis & Clark-themed quilt in the museum's recent contest. Framed collages by Paducah artist Tracey Buchanan will be on display at the museum through December. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
