Film festival showcases creativity, innovation

As part of its observance of Global Entrepreneurship Week, Southeast Missouri State University will host the Fault-Line Film Festival. The festival will showcase the creativity and innovation of students through filmmaking. During the festival, Southeast student script writers, actors and video production and editing specialists will be given the chance to spotlight their creative talents by competing for prizes and recognition. Winning films from the competition will be screened, and $4,000 in prizes will be awarded at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Bedell Performance Hall at Southeast's River Campus. There will be a red-carpet reception, winning films will be screened and a People's Choice Award will be announced at the Fault-Line Film Festival Gala at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 in the Rose Theatre. Music series features French Baroque pieces

Chamber Music Sundays at Three will present "Savages and Sultans: The Exotic in French Baroque Music" at 3 p.m. Nov. 18 in the Shuck Music Recital Hall at Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus. Harpsichordist Maryse Carlin, Brandon Christensen and Elizabeth Ramos on violins, Ken Kulosa on cello and Douglas Worthen on flute will highlight 150 years of music from the courts and churches of Baroque France. Tickets may be purchased through the River Campus Box Office in the Cultural Arts Center, 518 S. Fountain St., weekdays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or by calling 651-2265. Annual Cape Christmas parade set for Nov. 25

Old Town Cape will present its 21st annual Parade of Lights on Nov. 25. This year's theme is "All I Want for Christmas." The parade will begin at about 5 p.m. or as soon as dusk arrives. It will assemble at Capaha Park and proceed down Broadway, turning right on Main Street and ending at Merriwether Street. Entries are limited to the first 100 applicants, and each entry must be lighted and play or sing Christmas music. For information on how to enter the parade visit www.oldtowncape.org/events. South Side Cindy show may be rescheduled

South Side Cindy's show set for Nov. 3 was canceled last week at Bill and Chas'. The band's managment is trying to book another Cape Girardeau show. The song "We the People" has received airplay on 99.3 FM in Cape Girardeau.
