John D. Hale Band to open for Turner

The John D. Hale Band will warm up crowds before Josh Turner's December concert at the Show Me Center. The country group from just outside Jackson spends its time touring and playing shows, but will come home just before the holidays to open for Turner, a Nashville country music singer. The concert starts at 8 p.m. Dec. 5. Tickets are $37 and on sale at the Show Me Center, Ticketmaster outlets, 651-5000 and www.showmecenter.biz.

Halloween may be over, but spirits still lurk in downtown Cape Girardeau, and you can learn all about them on Friday the 13th -- of November. A costumed guide will take small groups around landmark buildings and legendary haunting grounds downtown. Tours start at 7:15, 8:30 and 9:45 p.m. and last about one hour. Cost is $20 per person; $30 per couple. To register, call the Southeast Missouri State University Extended & Continuing Education department at 986-6879.

Sikeston theater prepares new play

SIKESTON, Mo. -- The Sikeston Little Theatre will continue its 51st season with "The Dixie Swim Club," a comedy about five Southern women who meet once a year to catch up and take a break from their real lives. The play will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 19 to 21 and 2 p.m. Nov. 22. Tickets are $7 at Collins Music or leave name, the number of tickets and the date to attend at 573-481-0255.
