Film festival returns to Cape Girardeau Nov. 11

The Show Me Digital Film Festival will return to Cape Girardeau for its second year on Nov. 11 to 12, with 17 films, three of them features, from around the country. This year's features include two comedies and a documentary. The festival will be held at the University Center on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. Dance concert comes to Rose Theatre Nov. 11

Southeast Missouri State University's Department of Theatre and Dance will hold its annual Fall Dance Concert Nov. 11 to 12 and Nov. 18 to 19 at 8 p.m. in Rose Theatre. This year's concert will include modern, jazz, ballet, swing, tap and hip-hop dance numbers choreographed by students and faculty. For more information, call 651-2265.

Mike Shain to be host of 'Holiday with the Pops'

Local TV newsman Mike Shain will be the host of this year's "Holiday with the Pops" concert featuring the Heartland Pops Orchestra and Chorus. The concert takes place Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. at Lynwood Baptist Church and will also feature performances from the Heartland Victorian Voices and the Cape Girardeau Children's Choir. Central drama group prepares fall production

LoDo's dresses to the nines for anniversary

LoDo's will celebrate its one-year anniversary with a Dress to the Nines Party from 8 to 11 p.m. Thursday. The party is a jacket-required affair in the spirit of The Rat Pack era, with the Jerry Ford Quartet performing a tribute to The Rat Pack. Limousine service, valet parking and shuttle service are available with advance reservation. Proceeds from the event will go to the American Red Cross. Barnes & Noble holiday book drive begins Monday

Barnes & Noble will start its annual holiday book drive on Monday. The drive will run through Jan. 1. Books can be dropped off at the Cape Girardeau Barnes & Noble location. This year the store is looking for books geared to children ages 9 to 14 in particular, but will take books for children of all ages. The books collected will be donated to the Southeast Missouri chapter of the American Red Cross. For more information, call the store at 334-2996.

Antique and collectibles show at Arena Nov. 13

The Community Counseling Center Foundation will hold its semi-annual Antiques and Collectibles show on Nov. 13 at the Arena Building. Early bird pre-sale begins at 8 a.m. and the show starts at 9 a.m. All proceeds will benefit the Community Counseling Center Foundation. Percussion ensemble opens concert season

The Southeast Missouri State University Department of Music will present its first percussion ensemble concert of the 2005-2006 season at 8 p.m. on Nov. 14 in the University Center Ballroom. University Choir, Cantus Choralis performs Thursday

The Southeast Missouri State University Choir and Cantus Choralis will present an eclectic program of vocal music, including early American music and seasonal pieces, both secular and sacred. Mizzou launches music composition program

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- A new program launched by the University of Missouri, the COMP K-12 program, invites children at the elementary, middle and high school levels to enter their compositions into statewide competition.
