Emerging artists showcased

The annual Fall Bachelor of Fine Arts Graduating Seniors Exhibitions will feature Southeast Missouri State University's emerging artists. The exhibitions will be showcased at the River Campus Gallery from Dec. 2 to 20. The first exhibition will run from Dec. 2 to 6, with a closing reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 6 at the gallery. The second exhibition will run from Dec. 9 to 13, with a closing reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 13. The final exhibition will run from Dec. 16 to 20, with a closing reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 20. On display will be each student artists' work. The River Campus Gallery is on the first floor of the Seminary Building in room 106, and its hours are from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 to 7 p.m. on First Fridays. 'Many Moods of Christmas' at Bedell

"Many Moods of Christmas," a concert that brings together the Southeast Missouri Symphony Orchestra, the Southeast Missouri State University Choir and Choral Union, will be presented Dec. 7 in the Bedell Performance Hall at the River Campus. The concert of seasonal favorites begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the River Campus Box Office in the Cultural Arts Center, 518 S. 'Peter Pan' to help youth theater classes

Southeast Missouri State University will offer two classes for children interested in musical theater, both using its upcoming production of "Peter Pan." The classes, which are open to elementary and middle-school students, are "Beginning Broadway: Peter Pan" and "Musical Theatre Experience: Peter Pan." The former is scheduled to run Tuesdays from Jan. 14 to March 4. The latter will be on five Saturdays from Jan. 18 to Feb. 22. Workshops are sponsored by the Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts and will be coordinated by Victoria Tuttle, a professional teaching artist from Seattle. Songs and scenes from "Peter Pan" will be taught to the participants. Family and friends will see a final performance by the children. 'Orpheus Descending' at Rust Flex Theatre

American playwright Tennessee Williams' "Orpheus Descending" will be performed at the Rust Flexible Theatre at Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 4 to 7 and 2 p.m. Dec. 8. The drama. based in the 1950s, follows the arrival of a young man in a small, conservative town. The show contains adult content. Lazy L Safari gets ready for Christmas

Lazy L Safari Park in Cape Girardeau is preparing for Christmas at the Zoo, a 10-night event from 5 to 8 p.m. primarily on Fridays and Saturdays from Nov. 29 to Dec. 23. Festivities will include a live nativity scene with camels, donkeys and sheep from the zoo. Santa will be available for children to share their Christmas wish lists and for photographs. Along with the Lighted Rope Maze, the zoo will offer opportunities for visitors to take pictures of family and friends in Christmas scenes. Refreshments will be available at the Mrs. Claus' Kitchen.
