Art by Max Cordonnier on display at Shawnee
ANNA, Ill. -- Digital triptych works by Dr. Max Cordonnier are on display through November at the Shawnee Community College Anna Center.
Cordonnier is a professor emeritus of English at Southeast Missouri State University. One of his works, "Canterbury Pilgrims," was named Best of Show in the "Art for the Health of It" 2001 competition sponsored by Southeast Missouri Hospital.
Cordonnier has been creating digital art for about 10 years. His subject matter often springs from his interest in literature, from Chaucer to William Blake to Faulkner to Shakespeare. He also has created many religious paintings.
The artist creates his digital triptychs through the use of computer programs, primarily Corel Painter, Corel PhotoPaint and Adobe Photoshop.

Guitar Ensemble to play Monday
The Southeast Guitar Ensemble will present a concert at 8 p.m. Monday at the Baptist Student Center Chapel on the Southeast Missouri State University campus.
The program will include a set of Renaissance dances by Michael Praetorius, Vivaldi's Concerto for Two Mandolins, Spanish dances and songs by Federico Moreno Torroba.
Other composers represented in the program include Bach, Brouwer, Giulio Regondi and Heitor Villa Lobos.
The ensemble is directed by Jeffrey Noonan.
The free concert is open to the public.
Red Dagger readies 'Cheaper by the Dozen'
The Central High School Red Dagger Drama Club will present the comedy "Cheaper by the Dozen" Thursday and Nov. 22 at the Central Junior High School Auditorium, 205 Caruthers.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for students.
Auditions for 'Wit' Monday, Tuesday
PADUCAH, Ky. -- Auditions for the Pulitzer Prize-winning play "Wit" will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Tuesday at the MainStage Theatre.

Abbott Awards Banquet to be Nov. 22
The River City Players will hold the annual Abbott Awards Banquet at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 22 at Port Cape's River City Yacht Club.
The public is invited to the free admission banquet. Awards will be presented for best actress, best actor, technical achievement, set design and supporting roles. In addition, Linda Spall of the American Association of Community Theatre will present this year's national Spotlight Award.
Free appetizers will be served and a cash bar will be available. Music will be provided by Salsa Descarga beginning at 9 p.m.
The awards are named for the late Ann Abbott, an educator and founder of community theater in the area.
'Cirque du Soleil' at Omnimax in St. Louis
ST. LOUIS -- "Cirque du Soleil: Journey of Man" will be presented at the St. Louis Science Center's Omnimax Theater beginning Nov. 22 and continuing Jan. 30.
The large-format film shows the performers of the famed troupe in a tale about the journey from childhood to adulthood.

'Holiday with the Pops' Dec. 4
"Holiday with the Pops" will be presented Dec. 4 by the newly formed Heartland Pops Orchestra and Chorus.
The concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Old St. Vincent's Church. The guest narrator will be KFVS-TV12 anchor Dave Courvoisier.
The musical group is directed by Jerry Ganiel.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Children under 3 are free.
'The Producers' opens Dec. 10ST. LOUIS -- The Broadway hit "The Producers" will be presented Dec. 10-28 at the Fox Theatres.
The musical stars Lewis J. Stadlen and Don Stephenson in the roles of Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom, respectively.
Stadlen most recently starred on Broadway in Neil Simon's "45 Seconds From Broadway." Stephenson's Broadway credits include "Wonderful Town," "Private Lives," and "Titanic" among others.
