Smashing Pumpkins celebrate 20 years

New art exhibit opens in Sikeston Depot Museum
@SL_body_copy_ragged:SIKESTON, Mo. -- The Sikeston Depot Museum presents two new shows for November and December. "The Horrell Family Wildlife Art Exhibit" features work by Chaffee, Mo.'s Aaron Horrell and his daughters, Toni and Annette. The display features photography, oils and pen-and-ink drawings. The other new exhibit is the winners of the third annual Mingo Refuge Photography Contest. This display has 52 award-winning photographs in 11 categories. Due to popular demand, part of "The Bulldog Century" exhibit celebrating 100 years of Sikeston High School football will remain through November, as will the "If The Shoe Fits ..." display from the St. Louis Science Center. The Depot is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday, and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. For more information or for tours, call 573-481-9967.
Winners of the Missouri Arts Awards announced

In arts education, Kansas City Art Institute, Kansas City, Mo.; in arts organization, Allied Arts Council of St. Joseph, Mo., Inc., in St. Joseph; in creative community, the city of Springfield, Mo.; in individual artist, Linda Lighton Adkins of Kansas City; in arts leadership, Janette M. Lohman of St. Louis; in philanthropy, Beth Ingram of the Lyric Opera of Kansas City. The awards will officially be presented at 2 p.m. Feb. 11 in Jefferson City, Mo.
Concert will raise money for Magnolia Manor
@SL_body_copy_ragged:CAIRO, Ill. -- "The Mods," a band from the 1960s in Cairo, will reunite for a concert to raise money for the Magnolia Mansion, Cairo's historic mansion. Hurricane-strength winds in September slung the old magnolia tree into the two-story front porch. The concert, silent auction and 50/50 drawing will raise money for the deductible and tree removal. The concert will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 29 at the Elks Club in Cairo.
