Arts Council craft show Nov. 18 and 19

The 36th Annual Christmas Arts and Crafts Extravaganza. The event will feature over 300 crafters at the Osage Community Centre and the Show Me Center.

Times are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 18 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 19. The event raises funds for the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri. For more information call 334-9233.

Southeast Department of Music hosting Big Band Dance

The Southeast Missouri State University Department of Music will host its first annual Big Band Dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Nov. 17 in the University Center Ballroom.

The featured vocalist will be Southeast music instructor Lori Schaffer, with songs from throughout the big band era. For more information call 651-2265.

Central High School presents "The Uninvited"

Cape Central High School's Red Dagger will present the play "The Uninvited" for its annual fall production at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16-18. Performances will take place at the Cape Central Junior High School Auditorium.

Sikeston Little Theater holds auditions for "Wizard of Oz"

SIKESTON, Mo. -- The Sikeston Little Theater will host auditions for its upcoming production of "The Wizard of Oz" starting Thursday. Auditions for adults will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday; again at 7 p.m. Nov. 17; 3 to 4:40 p.m. Nov. 18 and 19. Children's auditions will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. Nov. 18 and 19.

Children auditioning as munchkins can be no more that 4 feet 8 inches tall. Performances will take place in February.

St. Louis Art Museum showcases Plains Indian beadwork

ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Art Museum will open its "Plains Indian Beadwork fro the Donald Danforth Jr. Collection" on Nov. 17.

The collection features more than 30 works including pipe and saddle bags, moccasins and clothing created in the 19th century by the Apache, Blackfeet, Cheyenne, Crow, Kiowa and Lakota nations.

Missouri Arts Council workshop coming to Cape Girardeau

A Missouri Arts Council grant workshop will take place from 10 a.m. to noon at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri, located at 32 N. Main St.

Participants will learn about grant writing guidelines, application forms and procedures from MAC staff. The workshop is free, but reservations are required.

Nature Center hosts art exhibit this month

The Missouri Department of Conservation's Conservation Campus Nature Center in Cape County Park North is hosting an exhibit of wildlife art by Mark Raithel throughout November.

Raithel has created work for Missouri Conservationist magazine and other art depicting Missouri's natural attractions. Raithel will be at the Conservation Campus from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Nov. 17.
