Christian concert brings in big names
Grace United Methodist Church has scheduled a fall concert, "An Evening with Derek Webb and Waterdeep," for Nov. 5. Proceeds from the concert benefit the Nothing But Nets Campaign, a not-for-profit that provides nets to guard families from mosquitoes and bugs carrying malaria. Special guests at the concert will be Sandra McCracken and Alli Rogers. The concert will be at 6:30 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church. University offers classical piano training
The Southeast Missouri Music Academy at Southeast Missouri State University is offering two adult piano classes Monday through Dec. 1. The eight-week classes meet on Mondays. "Piano in a Flash" will be from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. and Adult Piano III will run from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. "Piano in a Flash" is for beginners or those wishing to brush up on beginning skills learned in the past, such as note and rhythm identification, proper hand position, basic chord structure and ensemble playing. Adult Piano III is for students who have completed Adult Piano I and II or for students who have had some prior piano study. Both classes will be held in the electronic piano lab in the Seminary Building at Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus. Students must be at least 18 and have access to a piano on a daily basis. Participants may bring a friend.
