Arts council craft fair space still available

The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri still has booth space available for crafters and artists who want to display and sell their creations at the 39th annual Christmas Arts & Crafts Extravaganza from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 21 and 22 at the Osage Community Centre and Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau. Both locations have space left. All items must be handmade. Dinner theater features Shakespeare

The YELL Foundation will present a dinner theater in Port Cape featuring "Jukebox Shakespeare" performed by the Knighthorse Theatre Company, a not-for-profit theater group that engages the audience during its show instead of occupying the stage for a hands-off production. The show will be at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 19. Tickets are $12 and may be purchased in advance by calling 573-388-2705. Auditions set for Russian touring group

ST. LOUIS -- The International Arts Management, a subsidiary of The Messiah Project, will hold auditions for a summer music tour in Russia. The tour will culminate with a performance of Handel's "Messiah" in Moscow's State Kremlin Palace Theater with 150 Americans to join more than 100 Russian singers and musicians as part of the Merging Musical Worlds tour in the summer of 2010. Auditions will be from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 15 in the recital hall of the Pillsbury Chapel and Dale Williams Fine Arts Center at Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis. Vance Vineyards hosts Habitat fundraiser

FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. -- Vance Vineyards in Fredericktown will host the annual Habitat for Humanity fundraiser at 8 p.m. today to raise money for the Habitat for Humanity of St. Francois County. The Flat River Band, formerly the Sitze Brothers of Fredericktown, will perform an outdoor concert. Tickets are $12 at the gate. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. Art museum opens juried show

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Juror Ali Halane has chosen the art to be included in the 56th annual Poplar Bluff Artists' Guild Regional Art Exhibit. Sali Ware of Malden, Mo., received the Best of Show Award for her colored pencil drawing "Franklin Delano's Melons," and Jackson artist Dave Walker won first place in fibers and second place in miniatures. Jackson artist Herb Wickham won second place for his oil painting "Broken Mill Dam." The art will hang from Sunday to Nov. 29 in the Margaret Harwell Art Museum in Poplar Bluff. Arts council hosts grant workshop

The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri will hold a Missouri Arts Council grant-writing workshop Nov. 10 for not-for-profit organizations that would like to learn more about applying for state grants for arts education, dance, folk arts, theater and visual arts and more. Participants will learn requirements to apply, funding available, how to present projects successfully and how panelists review applications along with other details. After a break, Laura Fredricks will conduct a one-hour webinar on fundraising.
