Heartland Pops announces Christmas concert lineup

@SL_body_copy_ragged:The Heartland Pops Orchestra and Chorus, directed by Jerry Ganiel, has announced the line up for its "Christmas With The Pops" concert at 7:15 p.m. Dec. 15 at Academic Hall. Special guests will be Branson, Mo., and RFD-TV entertainer Penny Gilley and Nashville, Tenn., recording artists The Southern Brothers. The guest choir will be the combined choirs of St. Augustine and Kelso C-7 Schools under the direction of Carrie Landawee and Mike Cartwright. Narrator for the Christmas Story will be KFVS12 anchor Mary Ann Maloney. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for students and can be purchased from any chorus member or by calling 573-579-6127 or 243-3367.

River City Players presents last show of the season

@SL_body_copy_ragged:The River City Players community theater group will produce its last show of the 2008 season, the comedy "Charming Billy" by Peg Kehret, Nov. 7 to 8 and 13 to 15 at Port Cape Girardeau. Dinner shows begin at 7 p.m. There will be a show-only performance at 7 p.m. Nov. 13. For reservations call Port Cape at 334-0954.

Independent film debuts at Grace United

@SL_body_copy_ragged:Grace United Methodist presents "$6 Man." The film, from Extra/Ordinary Film Project, tells the story of a man who ends up on the streets with his daughter after losing his wife and job. The man and his daughter must get by on $6 a day. Grace United Methodist will show "$6 Man" at 2 p.m. Sunday. The viewing is free and DVDs will be available for purchase. Grace United Methodist is at 521 Caruthers Ave. in Cape Girardeau.
