Castor River Bluegrass Bash set for Nov. 5
ZALMA, Mo. -- The Second Annual Castor River Bluegrass Bash will be held 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Zalma High School in Zalma. Presented by the Zalma Masonic Lodge No. 545, the bash will benefit the lodge. Bands scheduled to appear are Punches Family, Blue Steel Rail, Janie Brown and the Chestnut Mountain Gang, Ozark Foothills, and Jeff Hovis and the Castor River Band Reunion Show Leevon DeCourley Band. MCs for the event will be Pure Country C106.1's Bud Doug Owens and Sandy Yount. Charges are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 7 to 16, and children younger than 7 enter free. Fault-Line student film fest on SEMO Campus
The Fault-Line Film Festival will showcase the creativity and innovation of students through filmmaking during Global Entrepreneurship Week Nov. 14 to 19 at Southeast Missouri State University. Winning films in the Southeast competition will be screened at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 in the Rose Theatre and $4,000 in prizes will be awarded. This year for the first time, other Missouri colleges and universities were invited to participate in the Fault-Line Film Festival Invitational in an intercollegiate competition. Other activities during the week include a film screening of "Pieces of Talent" and a question-and-answer segment with the director and a presentation by Emmy award-nominated cinematographer Steven Poster. The festival is sponsored by the Greene Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Department of Mass Media and the Department of Theatre and Dance.
