Open auditions planned for 'Romeo and Juliet'
The Department of Theatre and Dance at Southeast Missouri State University will hold open auditions for its spring semester production of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet." The play will run April 21 and 22 and 25 to 30 at Rose Theatre. Actors ages mid-teen to mature from Cape Girardeau and the surrounding area are encouraged to audition at 6 p.m. on Nov. 28 with cold readings at approximately 8 p.m. Callbacks and combat and movement auditions will be at 6 p.m. Nov. 30. LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- The producers of "Fear Factor" said they never made it to Cape Girardeau this summer to film for "Fear Factor Home Invasion." Producers blamed production issues, but they are examining the possibility of a 2006 visit.
The Friends of Bob and Tom tour will come to the Show Me Center at 8 p.m. Nov. 5 with a slate of four comedians -- Pat Godwin, Drew Hastings, Henry Phillips and Bob Zany. The comedians appear on the popular Bob and Tom radio morning show. The Show Me Center will also feature the Christmas orchestral rock of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, returning after a successful concert last year. The show will be at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16. CHARLESTON, Mo. -- The Mississippi County Library will present a program on Lewis and Clark titled "Wilderness Journey: The Life of William Clark," by William Foley at 7 p.m. Thursday. The program will be held at the Clara Drinkwater Newnam Library in Charleston. "Wilderness Journey" is the first of four programs running through Dec. 1. The program, which is free and open to the public, is part of the "Changed Lives: Lewis and Clark Meet the West" series from the Missouri Humanities Council. The Second Annual Show-Me Digital film festival will take place Nov. 11 from 5 to 10 p.m. and Nov. 12 from 4 to 10 p.m. This year's festival will showcase three feature-length films, the comedies "An Uzi at the Alamo" and "BachelorMan" and the documentary "The God Who Wasn't There." Southeast Missouri State University will offer several options for Homecoming entertainment this week. The award-winning play "Art" will show at the Rose Theatre tonight and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. High school marching bands from Festus, Fredericktown, Woodland and Scott County Central will "Rock the Dome" on Saturday at 11 a.m., playing a concert to celebrate Academic Hall's 100th anniversary. And Southeast alumni will present a free recital featuring flute and classical guitar at 8 p.m. tonight in Brandt Hall.
