Photography exhibit on display at library

Cape Girardeau artist Edwin Smith will have a photography exhibit at the Cape Girardeau Public Library. Smith, a retired art professor from Southeast Missouri State University, will display 42 photographs of architecture and sculpture from around the world. Smith will be present from 2 to 4:30 p.m. today, but a formal reception will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at the library.

Sikeston theater's season gets started

SIKESTON, Mo. -- The Sikeston Little Theatre will start its new season with Neil Simon's comedy "The Sunshine Boys." The play focuses on a television special marking the comeback of two aging comedians. The play will be at 7 p.m. Thursday through Oct. 9 and 2 p.m. Oct. 10. Tickets are $7 in advance and $8 at the door. The community theater company is also holding auditions for the November production "To Kill a Mockingbird." Storytelling turns to the dark side

The third annual Cape Girardeau Ghost Storytelling night will start at 7 p.m. Oct. 15. Attendees should bring lawn chairs or blankets to the east lawn of the River Campus for a night of chilling stories by Grammy award-winning songwriter Michael Reno Harrell and Jennifer Armstrong, who adds bagpipe, fiddle and banjo to her tales. Tickets for the event are $10 for anyone 12 and older and free for children younger than 12 when accompanied by an adult. Tickets are available at the Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitors Bureau. Putt-putt tourney to test golf skills

A putt-putt golf tournament will be held to benefit the Autism Center for Diagnosis and Treatment at Southeast Missouri State University. Entry fee is $8 and includes food and golf. The tournament will be at 10 a.m. Nov. 6 at Arena Golf.
