Theater, dance unit plans open house

Southeast Missouri State University's Department of Theatre and Dance will hold an open house at 6 p.m. Jan. 20 in the River Campus Center Directing Studio. It will welcome back returning students and allow new students to meet faculty and staff, as well as receive an assigned student mentor for the coming semester. Those attending will hear about the semester's upcoming events and student production auditions. The event is open to all students. Poetry Out Loud will be heard at library

The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri will host the annual Regional Poetry Out Loud Competition at 11 a.m. Jan. 17 at the Cape Girardeau Public Library, 711 N. Clark Ave. The event, part of Poetry Out Loud National Recitation Contest, will determine who attends the statewide competition representing Southeast Missouri.
