The Cape Girardeau/Jackson area Optimists will hold a birthday celebration in honor of Elvis Presley's 70th birthday tonight at Bingo World in Cape Girardeau. Bingo will start at 6:30 p.m., with Elvis music and decorations. There will be special Elvis pull tabs on sale and daubers with four different Elvis labels. There will also be Elvis trivia throughout the evening, with prizes awarded. At intermission (roughly 7:30 p.m.) an Elvis impersonator will be present. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. extravaganza Jan. 13
The third annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Extravaganza will provide entertainment from a host of area performers and orators on Jan. 13 in tribute to King at the Osage Community Centre. V-Day Cape Girardeau 2005 will be having auditions for a benefit production of Eve Ensler's "The Vagina Monologues" on Jan. 22 from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Hirsch Community Room at the Cape Girardeau Public Library.
