The public is invited to attend a reception for the 16th Annual Children's Arts Festival from 4 to 8 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri, 32 N. Main St. The exhibit, which will be on display through Feb. 27, features visual art and poetry produced by children from 23 regional schools. The top eight entries in each age group in this juried art show will be featured in a booklet distributed during the event. Auditions for the 2016 River Campus Summer Arts Festival productions of "Always ... Patsy Cline" and "Steel Magnolias" will be conducted by Southeast Missouri State University's Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts at 10 a.m. Feb. 13 in the Rust Flexible Theatre. The tryouts are open to the general public, and all positions include a small salary. Rehearsals for the shows will begin in late May, with the performances scheduled for June 16 through 28.
