Children's art on exhibit at Southeast Hospital
Children's artwork from the 4th annual Children's Arts Festival is on display this month at Southeast Missouri Hospital. The hospital is the presenting sponsor for the festival, which is hosted by the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri. The artwork may be viewed on the hospital's first floor surgical waiting corridor. Third- through sixth-graders in area schools listened to a tape recorded by the Southeast Chamber Players and, with the music as inspiration, created on paper what they imagined. A committee of Arts Council members and arts educators selected the works which are also featured in the full-color programs.
Arts Council calling for healthy entries

Entries are accepted in any medium but must be two-dimensional. Prizes will be awarded during the exhibit's opening reception Feb. 29 at the hospital. For information, call 334-9233.
Exhibit displays sculpture, digital prints
The Associated Artists' Gallery in Carbondale, Ill., will host a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight for artist Dan Owen. Owen's work showcases architectural fantasies and expressionistic portraits using digital prints and sculptures. His works, though appearing to be paintings, are a combined technique of collage and painting. Owen calls them mosiacs and tiles. His sculptures range from carved fossil ivory and bone to representations of crystalline forms. The gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each Tuesday through Saturday. Owen's show will be on display until Jan. 31.
