ST. LOUIS -- Kelly Felthous, a cast member from the musical "Grease" will teach a 90-minute master dance class Jan. 15 in St. Louis. Felthous will teach choreography from the show to dancers with intermediate to advanced skill level for a $10 fee. The class will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Jan. 15 at the Center of Contemporary Arts. The deadline for submitting nominees for the Missouri Poet Laureate is Jan. 14. The poet or writer will be named to the post in January and serve a two-year unpaid term. Nominees must be a resident of Missouri, a published poet, active in the poetry community and willing and able to promote poetry in the state throughout the term. A downloadable application can be found at Governor Jay Nixon's website governor.mo.gov.
Artists with the Black Door Gallery have planned three Saturday workshops in January. The workshops will allow people to create Artist Trading Cards on small pieces of paper to trade with other artists at the February First Friday opening. Each person who attends the workshop will get tools and materials, create nine trading cards and return Feb. 5 to display them. During the First Friday reception, they will take cards from other artists and leave their card in its place. Each workshop costs $10 and lasts from 1 to 4 p.m. The gallery will have a free demonstration workshop from 5 to 9 p.m. today.
