What's the hardest thing you have to do in the morning
Hello Friends,
I will tell you what the hardest thing is for most people. Watch for the post.
Take care and God Bless,
Ellen Shuck
"One of the most difficult, but most seasoning elements of life is the simple art of getting up in the morning and doing what needs to be done," says (Joan Chittister) in her book "The Illuminated life." Have you ever thought about it?
Everybody has to perform that feat and it's really quite difficult for many of us. I am a night person, so early rising is especially hard for me to do. But early rising or rising from bed, period, isn't always the most difficult part.
Chittister says that "it's the daily ness that gets to you." When you get up every day and seemingly do the same things, over and over again, it can become depressing.
It's easy to be happy when you have the opportunity to go where you want, to do what you want and have a lot of variety. Even if you're still unhappy because of something inside, at least, you have the choice to seek other avenues to approach.
We should congratulate ourselves, because, even if we don't reach greatness in any other area, just the mere feat of carrying out your obligations is reason to rejoice. Many don't.
It's conducting the sameness that you deserve to be honored for. I, particularly like a life containing variety. I enjoy going out someplace, at least once or twice a day. I like to be with people and feel a part of the activity of the world.
Although Jesus experienced a variety of sorts, he still had the tenacity to keep plugging along until his job was done. I can picture the Holy One walking up and down the dusty roads in his sandal cladded feet.
There can be a type of serenity in the sameness of life, the getting up and going to bed at the same time and completing the same chores, day after day. You have time think about God, your life and whatever else you choose. It is truly art, as Chisttister says, to be able to fill each day when you must stay put where you are.
Rather than thinking the routine is boring or without acclaim, think about the good you're doing. What's splashy isn't always evidence that the job is more important. Often the mundane creates the most success. It's the daily ness of life that provides security and continuity.
Don't feel that you're less successful, or you are accomplishing less if your job or family life seems less than exciting. Remember than still water does usually run deeper. Often, what lurks below the surface makes the biggest impact.
Please comment and give us your opinion on the daily ness of life. Is your life exciting or is it usually mundane?
