Quiet your mind so inspiration can emerge
Must you stay busy to feel productive? In today's overly busy society, it's easy to feel that constant activity means you're accomplishing more. But do you take time to really think about why you're busy? Is the reason you race against time because you DON'T WANT to delve within?
It's like when you talk about all the things you do it's a status symbol. You're almost embarrassed to not be able to tell about a job or task, you've been doing.
As I walked at the mall recently, I overheard two people talking. The young woman was filling the mature man in on what she had been doing. Wow! what an agenda she had. She ended the conversation with. "We are really busy." Then before the two parted company, the mature man jumped in and began reciting his repertoire of busy activities. It was like they were competing to see who was busiest.
You often think that by being busy life is moving along and you are contributing more to life and to the world. Well, you are, to a point. But are you going in the direction that brings you satisfaction or maybe, you're merely spinning your wheels?
Why not take some of that busy time and sit in a quiet place and DO NOTHING, for awhile. Ask God to enter your mind by way of the Holy Spirit. You may be amazed at what you learn. When you stop pushing so hard and try to control everything in your day, including time, inspiration emerges.
You may cease chasing the clock and begin enjoying what's in your life without doing anything. During his ministry, Jesus often went off by himself, he prayed many times, by himself, and he rested awhile. Scripture tells of numerous times when Jesus drew upon God to guide him, without doing anything physically. Then he arose renewed. Glance through the Bible or type into the internet to find Scriptures telling about Jesus's time alone to pray and JUST BE QUIET. Then when he worked, what he did had great value!
Stop searching for answers on the treadmill and just be still. In the quiet the Holy Spirit will inspire you.
