ADVANCE — Weldon Clarence Eggimann, 79, of Advance passed away Monday, May 20, 2024, at his home.

He was born Aug. 8, 1944, in Advance, the son of Clarence and Hilda Maria Wessel Eggimann.

Weldon was a lifelong farmer. He had also worked as a U.S. postal carrier for 20 years and a bus driver for Advance School District for nine years.

He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from March 1962 until March 1970. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville and enjoyed singing in the church choir.

He was a graduate of Advance High School. He was the first person at Advance High School to earn the “American Farmer Degree” through FFA.

Weldon was an avid Advance High sports fan and supporter. He loved watching volleyball and basketball. He also loved playing volleyball, playing in a volleyball league or often played at his home with family and friends. He was a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He enjoyed growing a variety of flowers in his yard.

Weldon was a devoted husband, father and Papa.

Weldon and Shirley Jean Speer were united in marriage June 4, 1966, at Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Eggimann; two sons, Chris Eggimann and Darin (Katie) Eggimann, both of Advance; two daughters, Cindy (Neil) Miles and Dana (Jim) Below, both of Advance; a brother, Jerry (Linda) Eggimann of Advance; 12 grandchildren, Ian Eggimann, Vince Eggimann, Tessa Eggimann, Miranda Middleton, Ashley Gilliland, Carson Miles, Alyssa Miles, Stella Eggimann, Cole Eggimann, Allie Scherer, Alanis Below and Alandry Below; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 23, at Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville, with the Rev. Daniel Warner officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
