A very derby summer
Whew. What a summer! The Cape Girardeau Roller Girls have been busy, practicing hard and planning events. Here's a rundown!
Team name contest
CGRG recently held a Facebook contest to name our A and B teams. We took all the names, held a team vote, and the results are in: Melissa Hamilton submitted the winning name for the CGRG B Team: The Rage Brigade, and Stacey Chicora submitted the winning CGRG A Team name: The Abusement Company.
Thank you to EVERYONE who submitted all the great names!
Who doesn't love a pirate theme?
I'm sure you're all wondering when the next home bout is. Well, wonder no longer! CGRG will host Vette City Roller Derby in a double header, Skating the High Seas, on Aug. 18.
Starting at 6 p.m., the Rage Brigade will take on Vette's Bowling Green Hot Broads. The second bout will be between the Abusement Company and the Vette City Vixens.
Doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door. Children 5 and younger get in free. Advance tickets can be purchased at Bootheel Harley-Davidson (also the evening's sponsor), P-Mac Music, Pitter's Cafe and Lounge, and at brownpapertickets.com. Come cheer on your home teams!
Culver's night
A portion of proceeds of sales between 5 and 9 p.m. Aug. 2 at Culver's will go to the Cape Girardeau Roller Girls. Culver's was fantastic to work with last time, and we are excited to be invited back! You have to eat anyway, right? Why not have a butter burger and support your local roller derby team? Hope to see you there!
