New Breeds @ Silverwalk
Westminster isn't the only venue to have new breeds this year. Silverwalk does as well. Two of them, in fact.
Justus Danny Quinn
You may recall Justus, the Black & Tan Coonhound/Dobie/GSP/whatever puppy I first was fostering and then adopted. His training is coming along well. In a controlled environment, he will now sit and down to hand/voice commands with a chest rub as a reward. He does, however, get whiny and wimpy waiting in his crate for meals. I looked at him this week, telling he was a whiner - in fact, I dubbed a "Whineramer, " not to be confused with the Weimeraner, Potter, in Sam Blackwell's column today. Glad to hear you have such a great mom, Potter.
A completely different breed with very similar characteristics to the Whineramer, Danny Quinn has now developed a habit of running in the house to see if his servant (moi) has yet placed his food in his crate - if not, he runs out again till it is there, then jumps up for his meal (Danny's condo crate is on the "second" level, so to speak). Unlike Justus the Whineramer, Danny Quinn is not content to nap in his crate after his meal - oh, no - he makes it perfectly and loudly clear he wants out, NOW. Danny perfectly represents the "Wienerwhiner" breed of dog.
Do you think we have fun here at Silverwalk? I have not had a chance to watch the dog show yet but heard the Redbones were real favorites (first year there). Go-o-o-o, HOUNDS!
