GIRL SCOUT SERVICE CENTER FOR SALE

NEW CAPE LOCATION TO BE DETERMINED

Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland (GSMH) is selling its current service center located at 1432 Kurre Lane in Cape Girardeau and will move to a new Cape Girardeau location to be determined. The building will be listed for sale on April 1, 2013. The Girl Scout service center in Cape will be relocated to a new location that better accommodates staff size and provides more visibility within the Cape Girardeau area. "Our priority is to provide the best possible service to our membership," said Chief Executive Officer Anne Soots. "Our girls, parents, and volunteers will still be able to meet with staff, drop off paperwork and shop for Girl Scout program materials and merchandise in our new location. The first step is to put the current location on the market. Then we will begin looking for a new location that best serves the needs of staff and membership."

Beginning in the spring of 2011, GSMH assigned a committee to examine the property needs of our membership, the community, and the council. Currently GSMH has five operational service centers and ten program properties. After much research, many surveys, and volunteer feedback sessions, the committee sent a proposal regarding the service centers to the GSMH Board of Directors for further discussion and a final vote. On November 19, 2012 the board voted to keep service center locations in Dexter, Joplin, and Springfield and to sell the current locations in Cape Girardeau and Jefferson City. New locations will be found in Cape Girardeau and Jefferson City.
