Local Students Receive Adobe Certification

Students who received certification. All are seniors at Jackson Senior High School who are completers in the Information Technology program.

This May, five students at Jackson Senior High School enrolled in Tonya Skinner's Photoshop and Web Design courses took and passed Adobe Certified Associate exams as part of the Technical Skill Attainment requirement for career education in Missouri.

As an Adobe Certified Associate, students are instantly recognized as someone with the critical entry-level skills needed to plan, design, build, and maintain effective communications using a wide variety of today's most popular digital media. Adobe Certified Associate is an internationally-respected credential.

April Little, Cassey Propst, and Nic Barna received the Visual Communication Using Adobe Photoshop CS3 certification. Adobe Photoshop is the industry standard for the utmost creative control in image editing and composing.

Two other students, Rebecca Michelson and Denae Payne, were the first two students ever from Jackson Senior High to receive the Rich Media Communication Using Adobe Flash CS3 certification. Flash is the industry standard for creating and delivering effective rich interactive content across desktops and devices.

"I'm so proud of these students," explained Skinner. "Leaving high school with an industry recognized certification is a great asset, and they worked hard to learn the programs during their high school career. It's a testament to the strength of the technology program at Jackson and the support career and technical education receives from the district."

Skinner teaches Multimedia, Web Design 1 and 2, Photoshop, and Advanced Computer Applications. This is the second year students have taken certification exams for the TSA completer requirement.
