Teachers, coaches

It's that time of the year when parents once again weigh in on issues about which they know very little. As area school districts have determined not to renew the contracts of some teachers or coaches, parents begin complaining about the board, saying they liked that teacher or coach. They go on to say they don't know why the teacher wasn't retained and that nobody will tell them. Well, that's because state law forbids board members and administrators from revealing such details. Period. So the dismissed teacher or coach can legally claim anything he or she wants, but the district cannot respond with any rebuttal. Just remember, parents, you're hearing only one side of the story, and you're blaming your elected and hired folks for following the law.

Teachers, coaches: So dismissed or fired teachers/coaches can say whatever they want or just lie about their dismissal. Sounds like the hundreds of reasons that the kind and compassionate Hillary has given for losing the election.

This message is not to offend anyone and if it does I am deeply sorry for any necessary medical/mental treatment that one incurs.

    Teachers and Coaches

It is the law in Mo. that no employer can say why they let someone go. They can only say if they would rehire them or not and if it is no they can't reveal why.

In some situations I feel they should be able to say something. Like if there was inappropriate conduct with a minor or something of that nature. Otherwise they could be putting children at risk.

  • Teachers, coaches.....well aren't the board members and administrators special . When the teachers or coaches apply for jobs at another District , what reason do they give for leaving their prior positions , does this Law prevent them from being hired because they can't give details ? Just exactly which Law would this be and who voted on this veil of secrecy . Does this Law apply to the board members and administrators as well? Seems like the board members and administrators work for the People not the board members and administrators hide from the People .

I'll be a dollar to a donut this call in would be a board member or administrator . As they say in their call in -- period .

Rick S. It isn't just the schools it is every employer that applies to. If someone calls for a reference they can only say if they would ever rehire them or not. They can't tell why if they say they wouldn't rehire. It is the law.
