Maniacs on the floor
Twice a year the Department of Theatre and Dance at Southeast auditions, accepts and organizes students into a formal dance show. "Fall for Dance" and "Spring Into Dance" feature students performing the work of guest choreographers, professors and other students. That show's over.
At the end of every year, a bunch of students get together and - with a little help from faculty - organize their own show with shorter pieces, less pageantry and a whole lotta creativity. That show, called "Last Chance to Dance," is at 7:30 tonight in the Academic Auditorium on the main campus and is, wait for it, FREE.
It's about 90 minutes of student experimentation and, according to Hilary Peterson who's playing concert coordinator, "All of the work being presented is student choreography, some coming from work in class and others being independent projects. There will be a mix of group work and solos as well as a mix of styles and music, some even being performed in silence."
Once again, that's a free dance show at 7:30 p.m. today in Academic Auditorium.
