The trade show was one phase of an ongoing pilot project surrounding Jefferson Elementary's project-based learning style. Through this learning style, the first graders learn money skills, social studies and other communication skills with reflections and persuasive essays. "A really cool part of it, too, is that the kids have been meeting all [of] their learning targets through the project," Kelley Branch, a teacher at Jefferson, said.
