Out of the Ashes... Arises “Trump the Terminator”
Donald Trump, if elected our 45th president, will be known as the 2016 reincarnation of former California governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger. While both men had no political experience, both men had national name recognition—Schwarzenegger, for his Terminator role, and Trump, for his popular television series, “The Apprentice.”
In the 2003 recall election of California Governor Gray Davis, Schwarzenegger announced his candidacy in flamboyant style on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno—shades of Trump, whose announcement was staged at a press conference inside the elaborate Trump Towers. His mandate was to clean up the political gridlock in Sacramento and it worked. A frustrated, heavily Democratic population, not only elected Schwarzenegger in the 2003 recall election, but re-elected him in 2006.
Schwarzenegger, much like Trump, was very outspoken and unafraid to tell it like it is. He loved to mock the Democratic state politicians, by calling them “girlie men,” and he soon became known by the media as the “Governator.”
And here we are in 2016. Out of the ashes of a divisive, over-reaching Obama administration, a new terminator arises. A terminator so powerful, the “stupid” Washington elite can only cower and run for cover. A terminator so brazen, he calls his political opponents “liars”, “lightweights”, “little boys”, “nasty”, “puppets”, “chokers”, “pathetic”, “disloyal”, and “weak.” And, a terminator so clever, he has taken the most influential news reporters and mainstream media anchors, and turned them into little puppies that beg at his feet for attention and interviews.
Donald Trump may suffer from severe narcissism, but his message of “Making America Great Again” is gaining traction and recreating that populous momentum that swept Schwarzenegger into office thirteen years ago in a liberal-left California.
President Obama and his progressive acolytes have pushed the American people into a dark corner of desperation, but “Trump the Terminator” has offered to lead the American people to a new promised land.
I, too, once mocked this billionaire celebrity, but now I’m beginning to believe we’ve slipped into a black hole that exists only in an episode of the Twilight Zone. But this is really happening. Trump keeps winning primaries, and his crowds keep getting bigger.
You may logically tell yourself he can’t win the presidency without winning a big percentage of the Hispanic and black vote. But, what if he energizes millions of previously unregistered and former stay-at-home, disinterested voters, along with independents and registered Democrats? I’m beginning to believe Rubio, Cruz, and even Clinton, may be facing a phenomenon even more bizarre and unpredictable than Arnold Schwarzenegger winning the California governorship.
If Donald J. Trump wins the 2016 presidential election, the Democrats and President Obama have only themselves to blame. The anger and frustration of the American people have reached critical mass.
As a conservative, I’m not sure whether to say “thank you” or “God help us all.” One thing for sure, there’s nothing on HBO or Netflix that can be more entertaining to watch over the next eight months.
