KidsTube
I'm always looking for family friendly websites designed for kids. A local parent informed me of KidsTube several weeks ago. KidsTube creator BJ Crocker and I have been corresponding via e-mail. During our interview I asked him to tell me something unique about the website that he's told no other reporter. His response, "One thing I can tell you that is exclusive right now is that KidsTube is working on a companion website that will be an amazing tool for teaching kids the art of film-making, digital editing, animation, and much more. We see this new website becoming very popular with not only kids and parents but also schools, after-school clubs, etc." The following story was first at hookedonscience.org.
KidsTube
It's designed specifically for kids, it's family friendly, and most of all it's safe. It's called KidsTube and it's becoming one of the most popular video sharing websites on the Internet. "We have more than 3000 registered members and are currently averaging 350,000 page views daily across the site," says KidsTube creator BJ Crocker.
KidsTube is a safe place where kids can go to be creative and at the same time they can learn about technology as they share their videos with the world. "We do this by manually reviewing each video submission before it is made available on the website, we also monitor posted comments, private messages between members, and any other content on the site such as advertising or member profile information," says Crocker.
The family friendly site hit the web in March of 2008 and less than a year later the website has thousands of members and close to a million hits a month.
Bottom line this unique website has a bright future. "We are planning several big contests with very nice prizes that will encourage our members to create original short-films, animation, and other types of video and compete to win a variety of prizes."
