Springfield Missouri
On April 4 Missourians will once again have the opportunity to take part in the political process by exercising their right to vote. For many, this will be a time of taking part in the hiring process of those employees with the power to initiate positive change in our communities.
Many Pit Bull fanciers may wonder why the mayoral election in Springfield Missouri should hold importance to all of Missouri’s dog loving citizens. The answer is simple, Springfield is on the threshold of hiring a mayor with the power to eliminate the crutch of a breed ban, which formerly held a death sentence to any dog with a large head and muscled body.
When reading the resume of Kristi Fulnecky you are immediately stuck by the accomplishments of this young woman. Not only is she a licensed attorney but she is also a small business owner and mother of six children. Her accomplishments may make her seem somewhat over qualified for the position of mayor. Not so, this is a woman fiercely proud of her hometown and regardless of obstacles, willing to fight for her community. I have provided the link to her website. You will see why trying to discuss all her pursuits to date would take more space than this blog entry allows. http://www.fulneckyforspringfield.com/
During Springfield city council meetings, Kristi has taken a strong stand against holding the first victim of the irresponsible human, the dog, responsible for the actions of those destroying the breed as surely as the dog fighters and abusers. She has recognized the fact that we, the responsible owners, outnumber those causing problems but because we do not sell sensationalism we do not receive equal coverage by the media.
She is also wise enough to understand eliminating this breed will not make the problem go away. The irresponsible owner is being allowed a free walk and will subsequently remain a problem regardless of the breed of dog they choose.
While we continue to fight the lies animal rights groups are promoting in our legislation, the fight to save this breed will continue at the local level. Across this state, we are seeing long held bans and restrictions being stuck down due to the fact the governing bodies are at last seeing firsthand, the bans do not work. Sadly, this push for sanity has come at the cost of the lives of thousands of innocent animals. It is up to us to see that those lives were not taken in vain by honoring them in our continued efforts to eliminate the continued movement toward the genocide of the American Pit Bull Terrier.
This coming election in Springfield is the opportunity for another community in this state to take a stand. By supporting and hiring Kristi Fulneky, Springfield will be sending another loud, clear message to our legislators that the intelligent, informed, responsible owners of this state do indeed have a voice. We will be heard despite the attempts at silencing us.
To all the readers of this blog, please take the time to exercise your right to vote in this coming election. We may not all be facing such a pivotal vote as Springfield but we can all be a part of the process.
