St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church was the setting Sept. 2, 2000, for the wedding of Catherine Joanne Sumner and Christopher Neal Wissmann. The Rev. Milton F. Ryan performed the double ring ceremony.
Robert and Donna Sumner of Cape Girardeau are parents of the bride. The groom is the son of Mark Wissmann of Fruitland, Mo., and Debbie Wissmann of Cape Girardeau.
Maid of honor was Susan Sumner and matron of honor was Alison Barnhill, both of Cape Girardeau and sisters of the bride. Junior bridesmaid was Shelby Sumner-Wissmann, daughter of the bride and groom.
Patrick Kirchhoff of Cape Girardeau was best man. Groomsman was Steve Rector of Cape Girardeau. Ushers were Robert and Phillip Sumner, brothers of the bride.
Following the ceremony, the reception was held at the Elks Lodge.
The groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner Sept. 1.
Mrs. Wissmann is a 1995 graduate of Sikeston High School.
The groom is a 1991 graduate of Jackson High School. He is communications engineer with Capricorn Communications.
After a wedding trip to Florida, the couple resides in Cape Girardeau.
