WEDDINGS: SOWERS-TANNER

Kimberly Rafferty Sowers and David Neal Tanner exchanged vows Sept. 2, 2000, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Rolla, Mo. The Revs. John Hutchinson and I.C. Medina performed the ceremony. Lectors were the groom's father, Roger Neal Tanner; Michelle Heitz of St. Louis, cousin of the groom; and Becca Coggins of Chicago.

Organist was Mary Kaye Kramme of Rolla, flutist was Jamie Harris of St. James, Mo., and soloist was Wade Wallace of Simpsonville, S.C., brother-in-law of the bride. A string trio consisted of Lindsay Shamberger of Wellesley, Mass., Patrick Shamberger of Princeton, N.J., and Jason Shamberger of Berkeley, Calif., cousins of the bride.

Mr. and Mrs. Tom Sowers of Rolla are parents of the bride. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Neal Tanner of Cape Girardeau.

Matron of honor was Samantha Wallace of Simpsonville, and maid of honor was Alyson Sowers of Sevastopol, Ukraine, sisters of the bride. Bridesmaids were Angela Logel of Cape Girardeau, sister of the groom; Amara Balthrop-Lewis of Los Angeles; Claire Haggard and Angela Dake of San Francisco; and Gillian Wolford of Rolla.

Philip Johnson and Jeffrey Berger of St. Louis were best men. Groomsmen were 1st Lt. Tom Sowers II of Bamberg, Germany, brother of the bride; Steven Logel of Cape Girardeau and Wade Wallace, brothers-in-law of the groom; Shayne Sowers of St. Louis, cousin of the bride; and Tim Reboulet of St. Louis. Ushers were Seaver Sowers of Washington, D.C., Seth Sowers of Dallas, Texas, and Sander Sowers of Columbia, Mo., cousins of the bride.

Candlelighters and greeters were Kirsten Ellis of Columbia and Sarah Ellis of Atlanta, Ga.

Patty Heitz of St. Louis, cousin of the groom, attended the couple's photograph for guests to sign.

Flower girl was Emily Nelson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Todd Nelson of St. Louis and cousin of the bride. Ringbearer was Stephen Sowers III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Sowers II of Columbia and cousin of the bride.

Following the ceremony, a dinner and dance was held at the home of the bride's parents.

The groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner Sept. 1 at Zeno's Restaurant in Rolla.

Mrs. Tanner is a graduate of Rolla High School, and received a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She is a senior account executive with Leo Burnett Advertising Agency in Chicago.

The groom is a graduate of Notre Dame High School, received a degree in political science at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and juris doctorate from St. Louis University School of Law. He is an attorney in Chicago.

After a wedding trip to southern Spain and Germany, the couple resides in Chicago.
