JACKSON -- Laura Ellen Smith and Thomas Frederick Stoverink were married July 3, 1999, at First General Baptist Church. The Rev. Luther Rhodes and Msgr. Edward Eftink performed the double ring ceremony. Pianists were Angie Miscall of Jackson and Marge Newton of Van Buren. Soloists were Julie Stoverink of Cape Girardeau and Marge Newton.

Parents of the couple are Clifford and Bertsell Smith and Jim and Susan Stoverink, all of Jackson.

Laura Sides of Nashville, Tenn., was maid of honor; and matron of honor was Cara Dockins of Jackson. Bridesmaids were Gloria Mayo of Cape Girardeau, Vicki Allgier of Fredericktown, and Jamie Lovett of Sikeston.

The groom chose his cousin, John Martin of Jackson, as best man. Groomsmen were Fred Stoverink of Clayton, cousin of the groom; Craig Clippard of St. Louis, Darren Sauerbrunn of Jackson, and Lance Learue of Scott City. Ushers were Curtis Smith of Jackson and Loren Smith of Mountain View, brothers of the bride; Jimmy and Luke Stoverink of Jackson, brothers of the groom.

Candlelighters were Christy Margrabe of Cape Girardeau, sister of the groom, and Chelsea Howell of Jackson, cousin of the bride.

Flower girls were Shanda Smith and Lauren Smith, nieces of the bride. Shanda is the daughter of Curtis and Sheila Smith. Lauren is the daughter of Loren and Carrie Smith. Ringbearers were Tyson Stoverink, brother of the groom, and Christopher Smith, nephew of the bride. Christopher is the son of Curtis and Sheila Smith.

Guest book attendant was Mary Presley of Arnold, cousin of the bride.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

The groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner July 2 at their home.

Mrs. Stoverink received a bachelor of science degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University in 1998. She is a special education teacher at Delta R-5 Schools.

The groom received a bachelor of science degree in industrial technology from Southeast University in 1998. He is an engineer at TG Missouri in Perryville.

The couple resides in Jackson.
