St. Mary's Cathedral was the setting Aug. 11, 2000, for the wedding of Jessica Jo Smith and Craig Joseph Elfrink. The Revs. Jim Seyer and Randy Tochtrop performed the double ring ceremony. Cantor was Mary Richards of Cape Girardeau. Organist was Leann Hendrix of Cape Girardeau, and soloist was Jim Simmons of Benton, Mo.
The bride is the daughter of Joe and Mary Smith and Voyann Smith, all of Cape Girardeau. Delwin and Theresa Elfrink of Cape Girardeau are parents of the groom.
Melissa Smith of Cape Girardeau was her sister's maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Alisha Smith of Cape Girardeau, sister of the bride; Jessica Gaydos of Atlanta, Ga.; Jamie Neff of St. Louis; and Stacey Elfrink of Cape Girardeau, sister of the groom.
Best man was Kyle Elfrink of Cape Girardeau, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Cory Elfrink of Cape Girardeau, brother of the groom; Jeff Augustine of Cape Girardeau; Allen Blattel of Indianapolis, Ind.; and Ty Spaeth of Dallas, Texas. Ushers were Brian Brandtner and Richard Couch of Cape Girardeau.
Candlelighters were Kimberly Brown of Kevil, Ky., and Jill Johnson of Cape Girardeau.
Flower girl was Katelyn Brotherton, daughter of Keith and Shirley Brotherton of Leopold, Mo., and cousin of the groom. Ringbearer was Zachary Johnson, son of Sam Johnson and Voyann Smith and brother of the bride.
Becky Beussink and Dana Nenninger attended the guest book.
Following the ceremony, a dinner and dance was held in St. Mary's School gymnasium.
The groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner Aug. 10 at Celebrations Restaurant and Bar.
Mrs. Elfrink is a 1993 graduate of Notre Dame High School. She received a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Southeast Missouri State University in 1998. She was a sixth grade teacher at St. Mary's School two years, and is currently a first grade teacher at St. Timothy's School in St. Louis.
The groom is a 1993 graduate of Notre Dame High School. He received a bachelor of science degree in engineering physics from Southeast University in 1998, and is pursuing a master of architecture degree at Washington University in St. Louis. He previously worked at Lonestar Industries.
The couple resides in University City, Mo.
