Windy T. Scarbrough and Derrick Gordon Carlton exchanged vows in a candlelight setting Sept. 23, 2000, at First General Baptist Church. The Rev. Sam Ramdial and Dr. Elvis Wilson, grandfather of the groom, performed the double ring ceremony. Music was provided by Brian Collins.
Parents of the bride are Jim and Wanda "Windy" Robins of Marble Hill, Mo., and the late Richard "Dick" Scarbrough. The groom is the son of Ronald "Ike" and Debbie Carlton of Cape Girardeau.
The bride was presented in marriage by M. Todd Long of Cape Girardeau.
Maid of honor was Tracy Harvey of Marble Hill, cousin of the bride. Bridesmaids were Summer Scarbrough of Jacksonville, Fla., sister of the bride; LaDonna Yount and JoAnn Riggs of Marble Hill, and Heather Holcomb of Dexter, Mo.
Tony Baugher of Cape Girardeau served the groom as best man. Groomsmen were David Collins, Shawn Morris and Aaron Hashieder of Cape Girardeau, and Chris Alber of St. Louis. Ushers were Hashieder and Alber.
Candlelighters were Hashieder, Alber, JoAnn Riggs and Heather Holcomb.
Miniature bride and groom were Bailey Scarbrough and Ian Rothrock, niece and nephew of the bride and groom.
Following the ceremony, the reception and dance was held at Jackson Elks Lodge. Servers were Elisabeth and Monett Kerr of Jackson, Mo.
The groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner Sept. 22 at the National Guard Armory.
Mrs. Carlton is a 1990 graduate of Meadow Heights High School at Patton, Mo., and attended Southeast Missouri State University. She is employed at Cape County Private Ambulance Service Inc.
The groom is a 1993 graduate of Central High School. He is an emergency medical technician and is pursuing a paramedic license. He is employed at Cape County Private Ambulance Service, and is a firefighter with East County and Gordonville Fire Districts.
A wedding trip to the Florida Keys is planned in June.
The couple is residing in Cape Girardeau.
