St. Mary's Cathedral was the setting March 4, 2000, for the wedding of Carla O'Connell and Joshua Southard. The Revs. Randy Tochtrop and Sam Rothemeyer performed the double ring ceremony. Music was by Rosemary Bryeans and Vera Probst of Oran, Mo., and Delores Pobst of Cape Girardeau.
John and Ruth Ann Meyer of Cape Girardeau are parents of the bride. The groom is the son of E. Jay and Jari Southard of Jackson, Mo.
The bride was presented in marriage by her twin sons, Rex and Ethan O'Connell.
Matron of honor was Shannon Brady of Millersville, Mo., sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Gaylene McMillan of Cape Girardeau, Robin Hendrickson of Fruitland, Mo., and Theresa Crisler of Tamms, Ill.
Russell Williams of Clayton, Mo., served the groom as best man. Groomsmen were Shawn Koenig of Jackson, Brian Nussbaum of Fayetteville, Ark., and Troy Wilfong of Barnhart, Mo. Ushers were Randy Meyer of Cape Girardeau and Brian Meyer of West Memphis, Ark., brothers of the bride.
Mass readers and candlelighters were Rex and Ethan O'Connell.
Flower girl was Alexys Meyer, daughter of Randy and Elizabeth Meyer and niece of the bride. Ringbearer was Beau Brady, son of Don and Shannon Brady and nephew of the bride.
Kela Wilfong, cousin of the groom, attended the guest book.
Following the ceremony, the reception was held at the American Legion Hall in Jackson. Servers were Vivian White; Clara Enderle; Sue Gockel; Paula, Nicki, Tracy and Alisha Baker, aunt and cousins of the groom; Joe Schram, Randy and Cody Schlosser.
The groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner March 3 at Delmonico's in Jackson.
Mrs. Southard is a graduate of Notre Dame High School. She is business office supervisor at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
The groom is a graduate of Jackson High School and Linn Technical College. He is employed at Nordenia USA Inc.
The couple resides in Jackson.
