Betty Carolyn Hughes and Daniel William Maxton were married Oct. 2, 2000, in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The Rev. T.N. Gordon performed the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of the late Phil and Christine Hughes of Tabor City, N.C. The groom is the son of Ralph and Martha Maxton of Cape Girardeau.
David and Jacqueline Maxton of Menasha, Wis., brother and sister-in-law of the groom, were best man and matron of honor.
Mrs. Maxton received a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a certified public accountant with Grady, Whitley and Co., LLP, in Raleigh, N.C.
The groom received a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. He is a consulting engineer with BE&K Engineering of Raleigh.
The couple will host a reception Nov. 18 at Hedingham Clubhouse in Raleigh.
The couple resides in Raleigh.
