St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church was the setting Sept. 23, 2000, for the wedding of Tracey Lynn Garner and Kevin Lance Akers. The Rev. J. Friedel performed the double ring ceremony. Organist was Jeffrey Oberbey and soloist was Alan Bruns.
The bride is the daughter of Bob and Ann Garner of Barnhart, Mo., and Charles and Carolyn Bradford of Goose Creek, S.C. The groom is the son of Tom and Anna Belle Akers of Higden, Ark.
Rachel Mathis of Charleston, S.C., was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Sabrina Outlaw of Cape Girardeau; Annette Beattie of Arnold, Mo., sister-in-law of the bride; Lynnette Barrs of Rockport, Texas, Alexis Garner of Jackson, Mo., and Brandy Goggin of Cape Girardeau, cousins of the bride.
Best man was Craig Ross of Marked Tree, Ark. Groomsmen were Tim Powers of Cape Girardeau, Jeremy Dees of Sikeston, Mo., Jereme McFarland, Gil Shinabery and Brian Akers, brother of the groom, all of Marked Tree. Ushers were Mike Beattie of Arnold and James Garner of Paragould, Ark., brothers of the bride, and Jimmy Fleming of Memphis, Tenn., cousin of the groom.
Candlelighters were Kelly Muser, cousin of the bride, and Wesley Pitts.
Flower girl was Courtney Beattie, daughter of Mike and Annette Beattie and niece of the bride.
Ashley Goggin, cousin of the bride, attended the guest book.
Following the ceremony, the reception was held at Drury Lodge. Servers were Kassie Muser and Theresa Straatmann.
The groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner Sept. 22 at Drury Lodge.
Mrs. Akers is a 1993 graduate of R.B. Stall High School in North Charleston, S.C. She received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Southeast Missouri State University in May 2000. She is human resources manager at OzArc Gas Equipment and Supply Inc.
The groom is a 1995 graduate of Marked Tree High School, and attended Southeast University. He is a route salesman with OzArc Gas.
After a wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple resides in Cape Girardeau.
