JACKSON -- Amy Amanda Jane Bess and John Patterson "Pat" Hume Jr. were married Sept. 18, 1999, at First General Baptist Church. The Rev. Luther Rhodes performed the double ring ceremony. Organist was Susan Lane of Jackson. Vocalists were Robin Koetting of Cape Girardeau and Rowe Arends of Jefferson City.
The bride is the daughter of Suzanne Holland and Will McClure of Orcas Island, Wash. Jack and Mary Hume of Jackson are parents of the groom.
The bride was presented in marriage by her uncle, Chris Bess.
Minyo Acord of Cape Girardeau was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Becki Arends of Jefferson City, Stacey Davis of Florissant, and Beth Schwarz of Gilbert, Ariz.
The groom chose his brother, Scott Hume of Jackson, as best man. Groomsmen were Landon Hume, son of the groom, Joel Philipps, both of Jackson; Eugene and Rob Rixford of Maryland Heights, both cousins of the groom. Ushers and candlelighters were Brian Bess, uncle of the bride, and Paul Holland, brother of the bride.
Flower girl was Paige Phillips, daughter of Paul Phillips and Melinda Bess and cousin of the bride. Ringbearers were Seth Acord, son of Minyo Acord and Mark Ticer, and Carter Bess, son of the bride.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Guest book attendants were Julie Hume and Cheryl Gelsheimer.
Mrs. Hume is a 1991 graduate of Jackson High School, and received a bachelor of science degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University in 1996. She is pursuing a graduate degree at Southeast.
The groom is a 1979 graduate of Jackson High School. He is a mechanic at Downtown Sinclair in Cape Girardeau.
After a wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple resides in Jackson.
