Lauryn Areace Smith and Justin Louis Gibbs were married May 24, 2014, at the Ribault Club on Fort George Island, Florida. The Rev. Dr. Douglas Ganyo, a pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Fernandina Beach, Florida, performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Peyton Smith of Houston, Texas. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Kent Gibbs of Jackson.
Maid of honor was Kaitlyn Smith of Houston, sister of the bride. Matron of honor was Addison Meth of Springfield, New Jersey. Bridesmaids were Betsy Adams of Jacksonville, Florida; Emily Smith of Leesburg, Virginia; Kalli Gibbs Brucker of Jackson, sister of the groom; and Philippa Levenberg of Arlington, Virginia.
The groom chose his father as best man. Groomsmen were Josh Haynes of Cape Girardeau and Adam Weingarten of Arlington. Ushers were James Houser of Porter, Texas, and Darren Houser of Houston, uncles of the bride; and Derek Brucker of Jackson, brother-in-law of the groom.
Flower girl was Meghann Slate of Carrolltown, Texas, and ringbearers were Kameron and Kooper Smith of Tyler, Texas, all cousins of the bride.
The reception was held at the Ribault Club.
Lauryn is a 2005 graduate of Episcopal High School in Jacksonville. She received a bachelor of arts degree in business from Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia, and master degrees in communications and public affairs from American University in Washington, D.C. She is development coordinator for George Washington's Mount Vernon.
Justin is a 2004 graduate of Jackson High School. He received a bachelor of science degree in political science from Southeast Missouri State University, and master degrees in communications and public affairs from American University. He is deputy chief of staff for Congressman Jason Smith.
After a wedding trip to Antigua, the couple is residing in Washington, D.C.
