Sarah Elizabeth Lichtenegger and Staff Sgt. James Edward Simmons were united in marriage June 21, 2009, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pocahontas. Pastor Bruce Ritter performed the ceremony. Organist and vocalist was Matthew Palisch, and accompanist was Pat Palisch.
The bride is the daughter of James and Gail Lichtenegger of Jackson. The groom is the son of Jody Simmons and Jimmy LaGrone of Cape Girardeau.
Maid of honor was Jenise Lichtenegger of Chicago, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Chrissie Davis of St. Louis, Christy Farrow of Cape Girardeau, Missy Faser of St. Louis, and Katie DeFilio of Florissant, Mo.
Corey Simmons of Cape Girardeau was his brother's best man. Groomsmen were Corey May of Jackson, Harold Reichwein of Ashland, Pa., Douglas Ritchie of Safety Harbor, Fla., and Bobby Parkhill of Cape Girardeau. Ushers were Paul Lichtenegger of Jackson, brother of the bride, and Clay Pingel of Kansas City.
Candlelighter was Michelle Sommer of Marissa, Ill.
Flower girl was Savannah Rolfing, daughter of Don and Alaina Rolfing of Jackson and cousin of the bride. Ringbearers were C.J. and Joe Simmons, sons of Corey Simmons and nephews of the groom.
Carrie Wideman of Cape Girardeau attended the guest book. Program attendants were Samantha Raines of Cape Girardeau, sister of the groom, and Nicole Pingel of Kansas City.
The reception was held at the Elks Lodge in Cape Girardeau. Servers were Ann Baudendistel and Carol Moore of Perryville, Cindy Lichtenegger of Jackson, and Shelli Lichtenegger of Prairie Village, Kan., all aunts of the bride.
The groom's mother hosted the rehearsal dinner June 20.
Mrs. Simmons received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Southeast Missouri State University in 2008, and expects to receive a master's degree in business administration from the university in May 2010.
The groom served more than five years in the U.S. Army, with tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. He is currently serving with the 170th Brigade in Baumholder, Germany.
The couple is residing in Idar-Oberstein, Germany.
