Susan Patricia Layton and Josh Michael Tomlin were married May 28, 2016, at New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. John Rice. Beverly Reece was the violinist and organist, Erika Rice was vocalist and Zach Rice was guitarist.
The bride is the daughter of John and Mary Sue Layton of Cape Girardeau. The groom is the son of Michael and Terri Tomlin of Jackson and grandson of Joseph and Helen Gohn of Jackson.
Jennifer Layton of St. Louis, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miranda Stevens of Fairview Heights, Illinois, and Jennifer Schirding of Petersburg, Illinois.
Best man was Tim Nicolai of Brooklyn, New York. Groomsmen were Ryan Lane of West Bridgewater, Massachusetts, and Jon Reno of Cape Girardeau.
Ushers were Alec Turner of St. Louis, Kendall Johnson of St. Louis and Kyle Stevens of Fairview Heights.
Following the ceremony, a dinner and dance reception were held at the Cape Girardeau Country Club.
The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the parents of the groom and held May 27 at Gordonville Grill in Gordonville.
Susan received a Bachelor of Arts in communications in 2005 from Saint Louis University and a Juris Doctor in 2009 from Saint Louis University School of Law. She is an attorney at Layton & Southard LLC, Attorneys at Law in Cape Girardeau.
Josh received a Bachelor of Science in secondary education in 2005 from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Master of Arts in secondary education in 2011 from Southeast Missouri State University. He is a teacher and football coach for the Cape Girardeau School District.
After a wedding trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico, the couple lives in Cape Girardeau.
