Jamie Marie Johnston and John Robert Hearnes were married July 14, 2001, at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Paul Jones performed the ceremony. Music was provided by the Marimba Quartet, comprised of Kelly Durcholz of Jasper, Ind., Darrell Thompson of Kansas City, Mo., Art Quanstrom of Atlanta, Ga., and Stephen Richardson of Nashville, Tenn.
The bride is the daughter of Glenda Dalton and Willis Johnston of Cape Girardeau. The groom is the son of Jo Ann Hearnes of Cape Girardeau and Walter Hearnes of Fort Worth, Texas.
Matron of honor was Tonya Snell of Jackson, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Tracy Guth of Cape Girardeau and Angela Mireles of Cincinnati, Ohio, cousin of the groom.
Julio Schwarz of New Orleans was best man. Groomsmen were Andrew Smith of Hartford, Conn., and David Hearnes of Cape Girardeau, brother of the groom. Ushers were Ryan and Chad Johnston of Cape Girardeau, brothers of the bride.
Flower girl and ringbearer were Hannah and Triston Snell, niece and nephew of the bride. They are the children of Kevin and Tonya Snell.
Miniature bride was Caitlyn Snell, daughter of Kevin and Tonya Snell and niece of the bride.
Geri Harmon of Cincinnati, cousin of the groom, attended the guest book.
Following the ceremony, the reception was held at the Elks Lodge.
Mrs. Hearnes received a bachelor of science degree in cellular/molecular biology from Southeast Missouri State University. She is pursuing a doctorate in biochemistry at Vanderbilt University Medical School in Nashville.
The groom received a bachelor of science degree in music education from Middle Tennessee State University. He is teaching middle school in the Nashville area, as well as teaching privately, arranging music for a national percussion publications company, and is performing music in the Nashville area.
The couple is residing in Nashville.
