Kristi Mae Hillman and Michael Edward Gardner were married July 19, 2003, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, Mo. The Rev. J. Friedel performed the ceremony. Readers were Pearse Mullally of St. Louis, uncle of the groom; Joyce Frees of Dallas, Texas, and Eva Richards of Benton, Mo., aunts of the bride.

Organist was Gary Miller, trumpeter was Matt Martin, soloist was Alan Bruns, and also singing was a string quartet comprised of Erik Miller, Kyle Miller, Stephanie Schaffner and Steven Schaffner, all of Cape Girardeau.

The bride is the daughter of Patrick and Jean Hillman of Cape Girardeau. The groom is the son of Robert and Jackie Gardner of Cape Girardeau and Bernadette Gardner of Kelso.

Maid of honor was Jennifer Glueck of St. Louis. Bridesmaids were Stephanie Little of Marion, Ill., Kelly Donze of Ste. Genevieve, Kristen Duncan of Valdosta, Ga., Erin Kluesner of Kansas City, Jamie Kiefer of Jackson, and Marianne Cook of Cape Girardeau.

John Carroll of Boise, Idaho, was best man. Groomsmen were Robert Gardner Jr. of St. Louis and Daniel Gardner of Kelso, brothers of the groom; Jason Hillman of Dallas, brother of the bride; Lance Reinagel of St. Louis, Shawn Scharenborg of Columbia, Mo., and Nicholas Watts of Cape Girardeau. Ushers were Michael Burns of St. Louis and Todd Winters of Foristell, Mo., cousins of the bride.

Candlelighters were Vickie Mirowitz and Cindy Regan of Dallas, cousins of the bride.

Guest book attendants were Kimberly and Michelle Sherman of St. Charles, Mo., and programs were handed out by Stephanie Mirowitz and Samantha Regan of Dallas, all cousins of the bride.

Following the ceremony, the reception was held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Scott City. Servers were Clara Batye of St. Louis, Mary Sherman of St. Charles, Janice Winters of Wright City, Mo., and Eva Richards of Benton, aunts of the bride.

The parents of the bride and groom hosted the rehearsal dinner July 18 at Royal N'Orleans Restaurant.

Mrs. Gardner is a 1998 graduate of Notre Dame High School. She received a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Southeast Missouri State University in 2002. She is a registered nurse.

The groom is a 1997 graduate of Notre Dame. He received a bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2001, and expects to graduate from the university's school of law in May 2004. He will then clerk for Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh Jr. of the Missouri Supreme Court.

After a wedding trip to Paris, France, the couple resides in Columbia.
