Shannon Hesse and Corey McNew were united in marriage July 20, 2002, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, Mo. The Rev. Oliver Clavin performed the ceremony. Lector was Phil Hesse of Affton, Mo., brother of the bride. Eucharistic ministers were Eddie Barnhill, nephew of the bride, and Tim Joplin, both of Cape Girardeau.
Harpist was Sophie Gathman of Jackson and Hannah Gathman accompanied on the Irish Tin Whistle. Vocalist was Donna Diebold of Cape Girardeau.
Donald and Carol Hesse of Cape Girardeau are parents of the bride. The groom is the son of Ivan and Liz McNew Jr. of Sikeston, Mo.
Maid of honor was Michelle Fisher of Dexter, Mo. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Gadberry of Benton, Mo., and Paula Schnurbusch of Perryville, Mo.
Darrell Weems of Sikeston served the groom as best man. Groomsmen were Jeremy Crook of Sikeston and Charles Kasting of Dexter. Ushers were Phil Hesse and Eddie Barnhill.
Candlelighters were Laurie Hesse of St. Louis and Donna Sumner of Cape Girardeau, sisters of the bride.
Flower girl was Shelby Wissmann, daughter of Chris and Katie Wissmann of Cape Girardeau and great-niece of the bride.
Following the ceremony, the reception was held at Drury Lodge. Servers were the maid of honor and bridesmaids.
The rehearsal dinner was held July 19 at the church.
Mrs. McNew is a 1990 graduate of Sikeston High School. She received a master of natural science degree in biology from Southeast Missouri State University in 1998.
The groom is a 1991 graduate of Sikeston High School, and attended Southeast University. He is sales manager at Sabona of London Inc. in Sikeston.
After a wedding trip to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, the couple is residing in Kelso.
