Emily Suzanne Essner and Lance Patrick Ruebel were married May 2, 2015, under the Beech tree at Southeast Missouri State University River Campus. Fred Burgard performed the ceremony. Music was presented by Nick Essner of Cape Girardeau, cousin of the bride.

Parents of the couple are John L. and Jill Essner and Lee and LaDonna Ruebel of Cape Girardeau.

Maid of honor was Allison Essner of Cape Girardeau, and matron of honor was Beth Otten of Pekin, Illinois, sisters of the bride. Bridesmaid was Jennifer Jewell of Radcliff, Kentucky.

John Gilman of Cape Girardeau was best man. Groomsman was Trey Wood of Cape Girardeau. Junior groomsman was Landon Ruebel, son of the groom. Usher was Andrew Essner of Cape Girardeau, brother of the bride.

Flower girl was Roxie Fry, daughter of Phillip and Sarah Fry of Leander, Texas, and cousin of the bride. Ringbearer was Asher Pattengill, son of Jacob and Regina Pattengill of Cape Girardeau and nephew of the groom.

The reception was held at the University Center Ballroom.

Emily is a 2003 graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School, and received certification in massage therapy at The Lauterstein-Conway Massage School and Clinic in Austin, Texas, in 2008. She is a phlebotomist at SoutheastHEALTH.

Lance is a 2002 graduate of Central High School. He received a bachelor's degree from Southeast Missouri State University in 2014. He is business development coordinator of Express Employment Professionals in Cape Girardeau.

The couple is residing in Cape Girardeau.
