Cassandra Leigh Erlbacher and Michael Joseph Bernal were married Sept. 14, 2002, at Cape Girardeau Court House Park gazebo. The Rev. Paul Short performed the ceremony. Music was by Trio Girardeaux.
Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Erlbacher II of Cape Girardeau. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Peterson of Prairie Village, Kan., and Mr. and Mrs. David Bernal of Lees Summit, Mo.
Maid of honor was Catherine Bergerson of Overland Park, Kan. Bridesmaids were Kyla Erlbacher of Cape Girardeau, sister-in-law of the bride; Susanne Rude of Overland Park, Amy Hackmeier of Durango, Colo., and Amy Coenen of Olathe, Kan.
The groom chose his father as best man. Groomsmen were Robert Erlbacher III of Cape Girardeau, brother of the bride; John Weinrich of Overland Park, John Kille of St. Louis, and Ronald Keltner of Lees Summit. Ushers were Gary Breashears, Jeffery Brink, William Keck and Emanuel Walker, all of Kansas City, Mo.
Flower girl was Sarah Bernal, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Bernal and sister of the groom.
Kara Newell of St. Louis handed out programs.
Following the ceremony, a dinner and dance was held at the home of the bride's parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Peterson and Mr. and Mrs. Bernal hosted the rehearsal dinner Sept. 13 at Cape Girardeau Country Club.
Mrs. Bernal is a 1995 graduate of Central High School. She received a bachelor of arts degree in communication studies from the University of Kansas in 1999. She is human resources manager with Emergency Providers Inc.
The groom is a 1992 graduate of Rockhurst College Preparatory High School in Kansas City. He received a bachelor of arts degree in communication studies from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1996. He is an NTR director with Entercom Communications.
After a wedding trip to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, the couple resides in Kansas City.
