Lauren Suzanne Beussink and Derek Christopher Nelson were married Sept. 22, 2012, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, Mo. The Rev. John Harth performed the ceremony. Organist was Geri Beussink and soloist was Jane Oehl, both of Jackson.
The bride is the daughter of Brent and Geri Beussink of Cape Girardeau. The groom is the son of Noleen Nelson of Arlington Heights, Ill., and the late Stuart Nelson Jr.
Maids of honor were Shannon Beussink of Cape Girardeau, sister of the bride, and Jessica Harris of Dallas, Texas. Bridesmaids were Ashley Dix of Dallas, Katie Daniel of Madison, Wis., Melanie Myears of Springfield, Mo., Katie Nelson and Molly Brown of Chicago.
Stuart Nelson III and Colin Nelson of Chicago, brothers of the groom, were best men. Groomsmen were Ben Beussink of Cape Girardeau, brother of the bride; Matt David, Pete Falknor, Mark and Scott Lutostanski, all of Chicago. Ushers were T.J. Bishop, James Russell and John Gile of Chicago.
Candlelighters were Molly Proffer of St. Louis and Mary Beth Kluesner of Iowa City, Iowa, cousins of the bride.
The reception was held at Deerfield Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
The groom's family hosted the rehearsal dinner Sept. 21 at Celebrations Downtown.
Mrs. Nelson received bachelor of science and master of science degrees in diagnostic medical ultrasound from the University of Missouri in 2009 and 2010, respectively. She is a research sonographer at Northwestern University in Chicago.
The groom received a bachelor of journalism degree from the University of Missouri in 2008. He is a partner and creative director of Clique Studios in Chicago.
After a wedding trip to South Africa and Mauritius, the couple is residing in Chicago.
